My 3-year old daughter quickly broke off the cover and pulled the batteries out. Most children's toys have a screw on the battery compartment, but this one did not. It seemed like a fun, educational toy for the few days she got to enjoy it.
My biggest gripe is that the battery compartment does not screw on. I've had to put it away for the time being because of this. This toy is decent for the price. My almost 3 year old is quite capable of removing the cover and batteries.
:) I have seen more confidence and less frustration in how he expresses himself with art now, let alone his writing has improved. i also like the art function that teaches him to draw certain words. it's worth ever penny and more and has served it's purpose so well in my opinion. Purchased the Write & Learn for my 4 year old son to help his writing skills in a fun interactive way and have been very happy with the results. It holds his attention longer then schooling him with our books and he even uses it on his own. Great practice for school right here and at such a value.
It is nice and compact to bring in the car with your child and my son really enjoys it. Highly recommend. It is pretty cool. It teaches you how to draw letters and objects that start with all the letters. It was one of the less expensive ones I bought, yet my son LOVES it and has played with it for a while now. I bought this for my 3 year old at Christmas. It does lots of stuff. I love that the little writing "pencil" easily goes back in it's slot using a magnet.
Awesome toy. It helped him develop an interest in drawing and writing that he did not have before (due to his lack of fine motor control). My developmentally disabled 6 year old LOVES this toy. He got it last Christmas, it has been used and abused and still works like new. It not only teaches letters, but encourages the kids to draw objects too, like a queen and an igloo.
